BEHIND THE NUMBERS

A price built around your business.

How it works

Labor = cleaners × hours per cleaner × hourly cost × (1 + payroll burden ÷ 100). Total cost adds supplies, transport, equipment, overhead, and other costs. Price = total cost ÷ (1 − target margin ÷ 100). Discount applies to the suggested price; profit and margin then use the discounted price.

A worked example

With 2 cleaners working 3 hours each at $18 per hour, plus 15% payroll burden, labor is $124.20. Add $47 of other costs and the total is $171.20. A 30% target margin gives $244.57 before tax.

What to watch for

A 30% markup is not a 30% margin. Include time spent travelling, employer costs, and allocated overhead. Include your own labor even if you are the owner.

For planning and estimation. Verify your costs and local accounting or tax treatment with an appropriate professional. No currency conversion is performed.

Good questions.

Is this a market-rate recommendation?

No. This calculates a price from your costs and target margin. It does not know local demand, competitor rates, taxes, or the scope of a property.

Are hours per cleaner or total team hours?

Hours are per cleaner. Two cleaners working three hours each means six total labor hours.

Why did a discount reduce my margin?

Costs stay the same while revenue falls. A large discount can take the selling price below break-even.
